Todd Windle is a
product of the world renowned outdoor-adventure centre of Queenstown
in the South Island of New Zealand.
A seasoned
ambassador for both big mountain freeskiing and the Kiwi passion for
adventure sports; Todd has honed his skills in the rugged Southern
Alps for over the last ten years and has put these skills to the
test against best and the rest of the world in the spiritual home of
freeskiing, Chamonix -France, where he currently maintains a base.
Todd is the
skiing embodiment of two great Kiwi traditions: hard work and hard
play. Through this he has come to be respected, by his peers, as one
of the most dedicated and hardworking athletes on the freeskiing
scene. It is this dedication and hard work that has made the
difference between success and failure in the challenging arenas of
high-altitude ski mountaineering.
Building on his impressive career to date Todd has stepped up from
international competitive freeskiing into the rarefied world of
Himalayan descents. Notably the recent descent of the South face of
Cho Oyu , the 6th highest mountain in the world, has
become a stepping stone, to the pinnacle of the sport, Mt Everest.
Plans are already well advanced to submit to the challenge of skiing
from the roof of the world in 2006.
Todd’s focus however is not only on the greater ranges but also in
steep descents at home and abroad. A recent highlight was the
televised descent from the Low Peak of Mt Cook. Todd has starred on
the competitive world stage for 8 Years, with many successes in
freeskiing competitions at home and abroad.
